ClimateBasis

The Climate Basis Monitoring Programme gathers and accumulates data describing the climate in Zackenberg valley and the hydrometrics of Zackenberg River. The core of the programme is five automatic measuring stations, which ensures continually collection of data all year. The most important climate parameters are measured at two masts with independent energy supplies placed in the Zackenberg valley. This setup gives the basis for a thorough quality control of data and makes the programme less vulnerable in case of breakdown of solar panels or batteries.

The Climate Basis programme is operated by ASIAQ, Greenland Survey, and financed by the Government of Greenland.

Asiaq - Greenland Survey is a public enterprise owned by the Government of Greenland. Asiaq's activities include operation of automatic stations monitoring climate and hydrology throughout Greenland.

Furthermore Asiaq handles quality control, storing and communication of the collected data. These activities were taken over by Asiaq from the Greenland Technical Organisation (GTO) in 1993, when Asiaq was founded.
